Formula 1
The 2026 Formula 1 season marks the most radical technical reset in the championship's history. New aerodynamics, a completely redesigned hybrid power unit with a near 50/50 split between combustion and electric power, active aerodynamic wings replacing DRS, and smaller, lighter cars. It's a genuine ground-up rewrite. At the halfway mark, the new regulations have reshuffled the competitive order dramatically: Kimi Antonelli leads the championship with 219 points, while Ferrari, McLaren, and a resurgent Red Bull chase behind. With 23 rounds across all five continents, 2026 is shaping up to be a season to remember.

Formula 2 is where future F1 stars are made and the 2026 grid is full of them. The championship runs across 14 rounds as a support series to Formula 1, following the premier class from Melbourne to Abu Dhabi. This season's standout storyline is Ferrari junior Rafael Câmara, who arrives having won the Formula Regional European and FIA Formula 3 championships in back-to-back years, and now targets an equally dominant F2 debut with Invicta Racing. So far Nikola Tsolov is having the best of him. For fans tracking the next wave of F1 talent, F2 is essential viewing: four drivers graduated from the series directly to the F1 grid for 2026 alone.

The FIA Formula 3 Championship enters its eighth season in 2026, running at 9 Formula 1 support weekends from Melbourne to Madrid, where the series ends its season for the first time, replacing its traditional Monza finale. With 31 drivers competing on the same spec Dallara chassis, it's the rawest, most level-playing-field championship in the FIA's single-seater ladder, and the place where the next generation of F2 and F1 drivers announce themselves. Every session is worth watching: the margins are tiny and the talent is dense.

F1 Academy provides a dedicated platform for female drivers aged 16 to 25 to develop at the highest level of single-seater racing. Backed by Formula 1 and run on a spec Tatuus F4 car, the series is designed to close the historical gender gap in motorsport's elite categories. The 2026 calendar runs as an F1 support series across multiple Grand Prix weekends, giving drivers direct exposure to the atmosphere and infrastructure of the pinnacle of the sport. At the mid-season, Alisha Palmowski and Campos Racing lead the drivers and the teams standing respectively.

Formula E's Season 12 is the last year of the Gen3 Evo car before the all-new Gen4 machine arrives for 2027, giving this season a distinctly end-of-era feel. Porsche's Pascal Wehrlein was crowned champion the championship after after a nail biting finale in London. The all-electric series races mostly on city centre street circuits, bringing motorsport to the hearts of major cities: São Paulo, Mexico City, Monaco, Tokyo, Berlin, London, and Miami all feature on the 2026 calendar. Season 13 in 2027 will once again shake things up with the brand new Gen4 spec and new tracks, including Circuit of the Americas and Brands Hatch.

American open-wheel racing's headline series starts 2026 with its most dramatic driver market shake-up in years and an 18-race schedule that includes four entirely new venues. Álex Palou enters the season as four-time champion and defending series winner, but the field around him has been transformed: Will Power has left Team Penske after 17 years for Andretti Global, Mick Schumacher makes his IndyCar debut at Rahal Letterman Lanigan, and a new street circuit in Arlington, Texas wraps around the stadiums of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. The crown jewel, as always, is the Indianapolis 500 which this year was conquered by Felix Rosenqvist after a nail biting finish.
